Tigers vs Twins Preview
Minnesota has already won the season series between these AL Central rivals, winning eight of the previous 12 meetings. However, one of those four losses came against Keider Montero back on June 11 when the 26-year-old tossed 6.1 scoreless innings in an 11-0 victory. It just so happens that Zebby Matthews was on the other side of the coin, surrendering seven runs on nine hits, including three home runs in that game.
In fact, the Tigers have feasted on Matthews as a collective in their careers, with a combined .325 batting average, 1.036 OPS across 40 at-bat – yikes. The numbers are much cleaner in favor of Montero, allowing just eight hits, one being a home run, through 30 at bats vs Twins batters.
Colt Keith has been especially damaging to Matthews, with four hits, including two doubles and a homer, across seven at bats. You can get Keith’s OVER 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs at BetMGM with +100 odds or if you’re looking for an anytime home run prop his odds are +700 at NoVig compared to the average line of +575.
Tigers vs Twins +EV Opportunities Today

At the time of this writing, according to our Smart Money Tool, there is a good level of liquidity for the first five market for this game notably at 4cx where there is $4,000 available on the Twins at +105 odds indicating there’s upwards of $2,000 on the Tigers. As mentioned above, Detroit has seen the ball really well coming out of Zebby Matthew’s hand so I wouldn’t be surprised if they jumped on him early.
Furthermore, the Tigers are 5-2-3 in the first five over their last 10 games, including winning the F5 in the first two games of this series. Conversely, the Twins are just 1-4 in the first five market over their last five games. Trends aren’t a predictor of what’s to come, but it sure helps when it aligns with our smart money tool.
