    Pistons vs 76ers Analysis

The top-two teams in the NBA’s Eastern Conference go head-to-head on Sunday night. Last year’s top seed, the Pistons have begun the year with a huge comeback victory over the Celtics on opening night and a convincing 128-111 win over the Heat on Friday.

It’s early, but the advanced numbers back up Detroit’s hot start. The Pistons sit fourth in offensive rating at 122.9 points per 100 possessions, with a 12.3 net rating that ranks sixth to boot. J.B. Bickerstaff’s team is displaying the type of balance that led them to the top of the Eastern Conference last season.

Meanwhile, Philadelphia took the exact opposite path, dispatching the Knicks on opening night, before a massive comeback win over the Cavaliers in their home opener, and adding a victory over the Bucks just last night. Jaylen Brown looks like a seamless fit in the Sixers lineup, and while Lebron sat last night, he’s been able pull the strings on offense, while leaving the heavy lifting to his far younger teammates.

Pistons big man Jalen Duren has been ruled out of this one after injuring his hamstring against Miami, which will likely lead to Paul Reed entering the starting lineup and Detroit playing small.

The Sixers will likely see at least some of their star power sit tonight on the second night of a back-to-back, but without Duren to defend the paint, I like the idea of backing Philadelphia as the home underdog. You can back the 76ers alternate point spread at a +1.4% +EV with a +180 price over a BetRivers.

    Pistons vs 76ers +EV Opportunities Oct. 25th

Duncan Robinson OVER 13.5 points is my +EV play of the day for Pistons vs 76ers. Our fair odds list Robinson’s point prop at +117, with NoVig offering +130 to gift bettors a +5.6% EV opportunity.

After shooting 41% from three last year in Detroit, Robinson has started the season strong, scoring 21 points on opening night, and 17 against the Heat. Most importantly, he’s playing an average of 27.5 minutes a night, while shooting an outstanding 45.5% from the field. The Michigan man is also knocking down an wild 52.6% of threes on 9.5 attempts from deep per night.

With Duren out, the Pistons can lean even further into playing smaller and attacking from the perimeter. That plays into Robinson’s hands and will likely create additional shooting opportunities.
