Thunder vs Spurs Analysis
The last two Western Conference champions go to head-to-head on opening night. NBA basketball is back on the menu. Thunder vs Spurs, SGA vs Wemby, the very definition of the NBA’s immovable object versus an unstoppable force. It doesn’t get much better than this to open the season.
San Antonio enters the year as the NBA Championship favorites after keeping most of their Finals roster together. Of course, much like most of the basketball universe all things Spurs revolve around Victor Wembanyama. Whose combination of defensive intuition, scoring, mobility and outrageous length allows him to change games with his very presence on the court. As such, Wembanyama’s points + rebounds + assists line sits at 40.5 for Thunder vs Spurs, with his best over odds set at -114 at Pinnacle.
Oklahoma City, the 2025 NBA champs, enter this season with something to prove. Much like last year’s Western Conference Finals, this opening night matchup will come to whether OKC can drag Wembanyama away from the basket and create enough space for Shai Gilgeous-Alexander to go to work.
A quick look at our Smart Money Tool shows heavy action coming in on the Thunder on the 3.5-point spread at -120 odds over at HardRock. The market has since moved toward the Thunder, with the current spread sitting at +2.5. That movement is worth noting. With the value on that -120 line for the extra point, I’m riding with the underdog Thunder to cover the number on the road.
Thunder vs Spurs +EV Opportunities Oct. 20th

Fresh off his new five-year, $139M deal. Cason Wallace will be motivated to put on a show on Tuesday night. The fourth-year guard forecasts to be a much larger part of the Thunder rotation this season, especially offensively, after OKC jettisoned the likes of Lu Dort, Isiah Joe, and Aaron Wiggins in the summer.
Wallace OVER 12.5 points + assists offers a +2.8% EV opportunity with our fair odds listed at -109 and BetRivers offering -103. The advanced basketball stats only strengthen our betting case.
Wallace averaged 13.3 points and 3.9 assists per 40 minutes last season, for a total of 17.2 per 40. He did so with a 53.8% true shooting percentage, while bringing his assists % up to 14.2. Most importantly, Wallace’s usage was just 14.8% last season. The Kentucky product’s usage number will rise significantly in 2026-27, as Wallace takes many of the shooting opportunities the likes of Dort and Joe once did. Bet on a strong start to the season for the new $100M man on Tuesday night.
