Red Sox vs Rangers Preview Analysis

Boston is hoping to replicate its last road trip, earning a four-game sweep over Baltimore just shy of two weeks ago. The pitching was remarkable in that series, surrendering just one run over the final three games, however, Sandoval wasn’t a part of that.

In fact, the Red Sox have dropped five of his last six starts, including his last three. In September, the lefty has been roughed up for seven earned runs on 15 hits over just 10 innings – OVER 4.5 hits allowed for Sandoval has -153 odds at DraftKings. This could be a get-right game for Sandoval, though, as the Texas hitters have a combined seven hits, only two for extra bases, across 41 at-bats while striking out 13 times.

Texas enters its final homestand of the season in some serious need of home cooking, currently sitting 1.5-games back from Cleveland for the final Wild Card spot. The Rangers have been good at home with a 40-32 record, and were able to earn a four-game split with AL-leading Tampa Bay just over a week ago.

One of those losses to the Rays came with DeGrom on the hill as he got tagged for two runs on four hits across six innings, those two hits ended up going over the wall unfortunately for him, ending a streak of four straight starts without allowing a HR. He returned to form five-days ago, though, tossing six scoreless innings with a season-high 12 strikeouts against the Mariners.

Not a lot of success for Boston hitters vs the veteran righty, with a collective seven hits across 55 at-bats and only one going for extra bases.

Given the success of both starting pitchers against their opposition, I like the UNDER 4 runs in the first 5 innings and Caesars has the best odds at +100 compared to Pinnacle which holds -108 odds.

    Positive EV tool

I locked in Trevor Story OVER 0.5 total bases with -140 odds at Fanatics. Pinnacles fair odds would be around -163 and about -145 with Caesars so we’re positive EV on both of those sharper books.

Additionally, Story returned from injury in late August and has been on a tear, racking up 16 hits in 49 at bats and is riding a five-game hit streak heading into tonight’s game. He has had his hands full with DeGrom in his career, batting just .111 across 18 at bats with seven strikeouts, so we may have to bank on a hit against the bullpen.
